We were approached by a group of businessmen in Chichester to help them create a campaign in support of their plans to acquire and renovate the town’s famous Butter Market.

The local nature and narrow scope of the project led us to focus on three elements:

• a web site that showcased the group’s plans for the Butter Market and their reasons for wanting to reinstate its true market heritage;
• a blog that gave a more personal account of the campaign and its aims;
• frequent communication with the local newspaper and letters to prominent members of the council.

The campaign was unsuccessful but the site has become a focal point for local discontent at the council’s decision to award the renovation project to a more traditional developer. There are plans now to make the site a hub for local news and views.
